Mio is feeling sorry for herself. She hates being a cat. Actually, hates might be putting it a little bit mildly. Mio absolutely detests being a cat. For one thing, her clothes, wallet, and schoolbag all disappeared off to somewhere when she got transformed. This means she had no access to her money or her credit cards in the Nexus.

Being flat broke for the first time in her life was not a pleasant experience. Mio was uses to the softest feather beds and the highest quality gourmet food. She had neither of these in the Nexus. Sleeping under bushes, in boxes, and behind dumpsters was not only horribly uncomfortable, it was unsanitary, and she kept having to defend her territory from other cats as well, meaning that she had not gotten anything near an uninterrupted night's sleep for the entire time she had been in the Nexus. On top of that, scrounging for food was demeaning. She was not going to beg for food, begging was not something a daughter of the Hongo family would ever consider. Unfortunately for her, Mio was not very good at scrounging, which led to her going hungry most nights.

Interrupting herself from her internal complaints, Mio goes to check around the Nexus Conroys to see if the old lady who runs this flowershop has put out any food today. The obaa-san is a little bit senile and often forgets, but Mio always comes by to check every day just in case she has put something out.

"No thank you, I'll be fine." Mio is determined not to fall down before she gets to the food! She attempts to continue onwards.

"All right." Ran hopes Mio can make it to the restaurant. The worse off someone is, the harder it is for Ran to avoid using her healing powers. Still, it must be awful to be a black cat in this weather.

Mio continues a little bit further, but her legs finally give out on her. She tries to get up, but her legs are very weak and can't support her.

Ran gives Mio a moment to try standing and then scoops her up. Ran knows how to carry a cat, but she's still going to walk as fast as she can because she'd rather just get Mio fed instead of wasting the energy on Healing. "My apologies, but I'm just too hungry to wait. They have incredible tuna rolls."

Mio feels mortified. This is so embarrasing! Why did her legs have to give out on her now? They were almost to the restaurant!

Does petting make it better? Ran can't really carry a cat without pettings, and she's quite good at petting kitties.

Mio is surprised. She hadn't realized that petting would feel this good. Ran's petting is soothing all the muscle tension Mio has built up from all of the stress over the past couple days. Mio relaxes in Ran's arms.

Mind you, she's still embarrassed about collapsing on the sidewalk.

People who avoid physical contact are often surprised by how nice it is!

And also, yay for conveyor sushi! Ran gets a kiddie chair for Mio to make it easier for her to see the plates, and she orders waters for both of them.

Mio drinks some of her water, then perches on her seat and watches the sushi go by. Maybe it was the cat instincts, but watching sushi seemed oddly fascinating right now.

Mio spots a plate of maguro (tuna) and gestures towards it with one of her paws. "Would you pass me a plate of maguro, please?"

"Of course." Ran does so and then snags something for herself. She likes most of what this place serves.

"Thank you."

Mio carefully nibbles the tuna off the tops of the sushi, then makes short work of the small balls of vinegared rice underneath.

"You're welcome, Hongo-san." Ran has worked up quite an appitite though, so she's going to be eating quite a bit. She had a sprained wrist twice today! "Please tell me what you'd like next."

Mio motions at a plate of shrimp.

"Ebi, please."

"Here you go. Do you want any of the dipping sauce for it?" Ran isn't quite sure how that would work, but she's willing to give it a try.

Mio considers. If Ran poured a small amount of soy sauce on the sushi plate itself (instead of the little soy sauce bowls), she could probably maneuver the sushi into and out of the puddle with her paws.

"Yes, please. Just pour a little bit onto the the plate right there please."

Ran does so. She's had a lot of practice at this sort of thing thanks to the hazards of her profession. "so what do you look like when you aren't LOLed, Hongo-san?"

Mio maneuvers one of the shrimp sushi through the puddle of soy sauce with one paw.

"I am 160 centimetres in height, and weigh 50 kilograms. I have short black hair, slightly longer than chin-length with bangs, and gray eyes." Mio is not going to mention her scar unless Ran asks.

Scars aren't something that are easily talked about. Ran has quite a few of her own, but they're more easily hidden. "You must be very pretty."

Mio doesn't feel pretty sometimes, especially with all of her mother's comparisons of her to Misao.

"Thank you," Mio says. It's never worth turning down a compliment.

"Are you in high school? Oh, um, does your world have high school?"

Mio nods. "I am a second year in Seika Academy's high school division this year."

Mio felt a brief stab of loss. She hated those twittering idiots known as her classmates, but she had enjoyed studying and learning from Seika's top-notch teachers. She wondered if she would ever be able to go back now.

"I'm a third year now. It's odd because I'm in the same grade as Niichan now, but I like being able to study with him."

Mio blinks. She is slightly confused by what Ran said about being in the same grade as her brother, but is trying not to show it. "Oh, so you have a brother, Fujimiya-san?"

"Yes. Niichan is the best older brother ever. He's two years older than me, but he was injured and got behind in school while he was recovering."

"I am very sorry to hear that." Actually Mio's not sorry at all, who was she to care whether or not Ran's brother had been injured, she barely knew her, after all. But it was polite to say so, so Mio did.
