I was thinking about having Torchwood host a welcoming dinner for the new residents on Monday night. It would give the new residents an opportunity to meet the members of Torchwood, and vice versa.
It would also be a good opportunity to get everyone in one place so I can start assigning things like cleaning duties. With over thirty people living in the Kashtta now, common areas will get messy very quickly if we aren't proactive about such things.
What do you think?

If at all possible, finding or training someone in-house to do it would be preferable. We just have to keep our eye out for a wanderer with the right talents.

Date: 2010-05-14 09:20 pm (UTC)I never said "fat stacks of cash" would be our answer. I was merely pointing out that Bambi Dalton was not the be all and end all to the forgers in this city. There were forgers before her, and there continue to be forgers after her death. I daresay there were other forgers in this city during the time she was active as well; this city is large enough that I'm certain there's enough of a criminal element to keep several forgers in business.
That being said, I've done the prep work for establishing identities for both individuals and businesses on a number of worlds now, so I'm quite familiar with what documents need to be filed and where in order to establish an identity. However, my previous boss did all of the actual document manufacture and hacking into government database and the like.
Given a fairly modest investment in equipment, I'm reasonably certain I could come up with with a fairly plausible looking birth certificate, since those tend to have much less in the way of security measures than other forms of identity documents. Combined with someone to hack into the SSA's databases to assign Wanderers SSNs, it would then be possible for Wanderers to go about applying for things that I don't have the skills to fake, like driver's licenses and passports, the normal way. Do you know if Sailor Mercury would be able to do something like that? I assume that if she was able to get into Toshiko's files she must be relatively good.

I'll talk to Mercury about it – I think it's probably not too far-fetched.
